Close a Great Year with Growth

The year 2003 has been a period of accomplishments for JCI. The list of actions and successes continue to increase in many areas. Over the next few weeks, JCI is expecting additional achievements, particularly regarding growth.

We set high
expectations for our organization this year, and so far we have reached or exceeded many of our goals:

* Strengthening our ties with the United Nations (UN) thanks to the superb JCI-UN Leadership Summit

* Developing and implementing a Corporate Branding and Identity program to professionally market our organization.

* Developing a Keynote Speakers Day for Congress, featuring the highest-quality professional speakers and a program that holds great promise even for 2004 and beyond.

* Constructing our new headquarters building in St. Louis with 11,000 square feet of state-of-the-art offices to enhance all services to our members.

* Surpassing more than US $10,000,000 in total assets of the organization and the JCI Foundation.

* Completely redeveloping the website into a true communications tool with more than 250 news stories, 200 Partner of the Day articles, 50 Leadership Lessons and a vast array of communications for members and officers.

* Completing LEAD for leadership training and ACHIEVE for chapter management, which will add to the long list of leadership development material available in the JCI Training Institute.

* Conducting a very successful Business and IT Conference, the first JCI meeting ever held in India.

* Organizing four excellent Area Conferences with outstanding training and attendance.

* Developing closer ties with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and AIESEC, with concrete actions and excellent liaison.

* Implementing the year's plan of action with a positive budget and a surplus.

* Holding in-depth, long-range planning sessions and implementing required actions.

* Developing and increasing the team of young professional Area Growth Directors by adding a second director for Area C (Louis Trahan) and for Area D (Zsolt Feher), both past National Presidents of Canada and Hungary, respectively.

* Providing increased emphasis on Business Networking and, in partnership with the ICC, developing a new business network website, which will go online shortly.

* Conducting a successful pilot test for electronic JCI Award entries at the Area Conferences. This pilot test will be the foundation for increased award participation in the future.

The list of actions and achievements go on in many other areas; however, another major item will take precedence within the next few weeks: growth. With the October 31 membership declaration deadline quickly approaching, JCI hopes to see a 2.5% growth in the organization’s worldwide membership.

There are 23 days till the membership declaration deadline. Make growth your highest priority in the next few weeks. Make this year the best possible in all areas — budget, administration, meetings, programs and, most of important of all, people!

Growth is the lifeblood of JCI. Growth is not an option! It is a must!
